Monthly Mean Climatologies From Model Analyses

Monthly mean reference climatologies derived from model data of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF), the United Kingdom Meteorological Office (UKMO), and two models of the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), the Reanalysis (RA) and the model of the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) are available on CEDA and can be accessed anonymously via:

sparc-ftp.ceda.ac.uk/sparc/ref_clim/randel/mm_models

Please use an ftp client such as FileZilla to connect to the ftp server as many browsers, including chrome, no longer support urls using the ftp protocol. The data were provided by W.J. Randel from NCAR. They are available in netCDF or in binary IEEE format with associated ctl-files for GrADS portability. Refer to README file for further information.

Daily NMC/CPC Geopoential Heights

Daily NMC/CPC zonal mean geopotential heights (units: meters) from October 1978-1999 are available at

sparc-ftp.ceda.ac.uk/sparc/ref_clim/randel/nmccpc_daily

Each data file contains one year of data. Files are named nmc{yyyy}d, where yyyy=(1978-1999) is the year. Data points are in IEEE binary floating point format. A README file contains data reading instructions in FORTRAN.
